Timex has a wide range of watches, including dress watches, sports watches, and digital watches. One of Timex’s most popular watch models is the Weekender. This watch features a classic design that’s perfect for everyday wear, and it’s available in a wide range of colors and styles. The Weekender is known for its affordable price point and durable construction, making it a great choice for anyone who wants a reliable and stylish watch that won’t break the bank.

Another popular Timex watch is the Ironman. This watch is designed for athletes and features a range of sports-specific functions, including a stopwatch, countdown timer, and lap timer. The Ironman is water-resistant and can withstand the rigors of intense training and competition.

Overall, Timex is a highly respected watch brand that offers a range of high-quality watches at affordable prices. Whether you’re looking for a classic dress watch or a rugged sports watch, Timex has a watch that’s perfect for your needs.

Timex is an American watch brand with a long and storied history. The company was founded in 1854 in Waterbury, Connecticut, USA, under the name “Waterbury Clock Company.” The company initially produced clocks, but it later transitioned to producing watches as the demand for wristwatches grew in the early 20th century.

During World War I, Timex (then known as Waterbury Watch Company) produced wristwatches for the U.S. military. The company continued to produce watches for the military during World War II, and its watches became popular with soldiers due to their durability and reliability.

In the 1950s, Timex introduced the V-conic movement, which was a major technological advancement in watchmaking at the time. This movement was highly accurate and reliable, and it helped establish Timex as a leading watch brand.

In the 1960s, Timex introduced the “Timex takes a licking and keeps on ticking” advertising campaign, which emphasized the brand’s durability and reliability. This campaign became one of the most famous advertising campaigns in history and helped establish Timex as a household name.

Throughout the 20th century, Timex continued to innovate and introduce new technologies in watchmaking. The brand was one of the first to introduce digital watches, and it later introduced the Indiglo backlighting system, which made watches easier to read in low-light conditions.

Today, Timex is still known for producing high-quality, affordable watches that are durable, reliable, and stylish. The brand offers a wide range of watches, including classic dress watches, rugged sports watches, and digital watches, and it continues to innovate and introduce new technologies in watchmaking.

Timex Group is the best-known American Watch company. Timex’s U.S. headquarters are located in Middlebury, Connecticut, and it has substantial operations in China, the Philippines and India and full scale sales companies in Canada, the UK, France and Mexico.

Timex Corporation has manufactured the largest-selling watch brand in the United States since the 1960s. Renowned for its sturdy but inexpensive timepieces, Timex distributes its watches

through 100,000 outlets in the United States, as well as throughout the world.

The company began in 1854 as Waterbury Clock in Connecticut’s NaugatuckValley, known during the nineteenth century as the “Switzerland of America.” Sister company Waterbury Watch manufactured the first inexpensive mechanical pocket watch in 1880. During World War I,

Waterbury began making wristwatches, which had only just become popular, and in 1933 it made history by creating the first Mickey Mouse clock under license from Walt Disney, with Mickey’s hands pointing the time.

Two Norwegian immigrants to the United States, shipbuilder Thomas Olsen and engineer Joakim Lehmkuhl–both of whom fled Norway after the German invasion of their country in 1940–founded Timex Inc. in 1941.

They purchased the nearly bankrupt Waterbury Clock Company, seeking to aid the allied war effort by producing bomb and artillery fuses that utilized clockwork mechanisms.
During World War II Waterbury renamed itself U.S. Time Company. In 1950 the company introduced a wristwatch called the Timex. Over the next three decades,

Timex was sold through a series of advertisements which emphasised its durability by putting the watch through “torture tests,” such as falling over the Grand Coulee Dam or being strapped to timex6the propeller of an outboard motor, with the slogan “It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.” With the help of former Olympic broadcaster, spokesman John Cameron Swayze, sales took off. The company later became Timex Corporation, then Timex Group and, to date, has sold over one billion watches.

In the 1970s, the American watch and clock industry was devastated by the arrival of cheap mechanical watches from the Far East, as well as the development of digital quartz watches pioneered

by Japanese companies. In the 1980s, in a joint venture with Sinclair Research Ltd, the company entered the home computer business, selling such computers as the Timex Sinclair 1000 and succeeding machines, modeled on the ZX81 and ZX Spectrum. After a reasonably good sales performance to begin with, Timex decided it couldn’t compete with the low-end market’s eventual saturation and so the company withdrew.

Timex survived the 1970s and 1980s and came back strongly. The company remains profitable and competitive and the Timex brand continues its dominance. Its primary market remains the United States and Canada, although the Timex timex7brand is sold worldwide due to its ability capitalize on its strong brand image and reputation for quality. In addition, Timex Group sells many other brands addressing all segments of the watch market, such as Guss, Nautica, Ecko, Opex and, in a successful foray into the luxury watch market, Versace..
Today, Timex Group products are manufactured in the Far East and in Switzerland, often based on technology that continues to be developed in the United States and in Germany.
As of 2006, it had 5,500 employees on four continents. It is a privately owned company and does not have a published annual report.

GUB – Glashütte Original a German producer of luxury watches

March 4, 2023 by aabbady Leave a Comment

Glashütte Original’s roots stretch all the way back to 1845. More than 175 years ago, the first watchmakers came to Glashütte in Saxony to manufacture watch parts and watches in the small town.

The Glashütte watch soon became a byword for high quality worldwide. Glashütte Original is descended from this tradition of precise, elegant craftsmanship, and continues to write the uninterrupted story of the art of German watchmaking to this day.

GUB was a watch company founded in 1904 in Glashütte, Germany by watchmaker Uhren-Rohwerke-Fabrik Glashütte AG. The company was known for producing high-quality watches that were reliable and precise.

During World War II, the company was forced to produce military watches for the German military. After the war, the company was nationalized and merged with other watch companies to form VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe (GUB) in 1951.

Under the new socialist government, GUB continued to produce high-quality watches, but the focus was on producing watches for the people, rather than for profit. The company was responsible for producing watches for the East German military, as well as for the general public.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, GUB was privatized and restructured. The company changed its name to Glashütte Original in 1994 and continued to produce high-quality watches, using the same precision and craftsmanship that had made GUB famous.
